Question
My dog is a male Belgian Malinois approximately 4 years old.  He was extremely larthargic about 6 weeks ago and was diagnosed at the vets as having pancreatitis.  They kept him for a few days, gave him an IV and allowed him to come back home several days later.  He started to not eat his regular pro-plan dry dog food about a week later and if he did eat some he would throw it up.  He was changed to ID dog food and he would not eat that at all.

He was given a shot at the vets to increase his appetite and that worked for about a week.  He went from about 94 pounds to 74 pounds over the span of about a month.  I began mixing a little canned food with his dry food and he has been eating better (not great.  His stomach has been making a lot of loud gurgling noises every few days which leads to him throwing up.  Lastly, the hair on his chest has turned a greyish color and is falling out in small clumps.  You can see his skin and its very pinkish, but does not bother him at all.

What is he suffering from and how can it be treated?

Answer
Hi Marc,  Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner, did your vet do bloodwork, and what did that show?  How is his liver enzymes?  I would need a little more info on his tests results to get an idea of what is going on inside.  A lot of vets call anything a dog has that takes them off their food & upsets their, stomach pancreatitis, it is sort of generalized broad term, and doesn't really narrow down things.  Let me know what other info you have.
