Aggressive behaviour by bitch to puppies

Question
I have a 5yr old black lab who was aggressive to her last litter of puppies once they were able to start playing and get near her face and lick her (3/4 weeks). She bit a couple of them which required vet attention. I separated them and began the weaning process. She had a litter of 14(all survived) which required a C section. I'm thinking of breeding with her again as she has excellent blood lines and my breeder would like to put her to one of her best stud dogs. I'm a little nervous... if you could assist with some advise I would appreciate it. Regards Andrew

Answer
When some bitches decide they are done nursing, they are DONE... but attacking their puppies in such a way that vet attention is required is NOT normal! I would be nervous, too! Personally, *this*, plus the fact that she had to have a C-section with her last litter, are two reasons why I would retire this bitch and not breed her again. (One of those would be enough for me.)
