Question
I am getting a 12 week old male this week and wonder about this breed mix? Have you heard of it? Would it make a good companion type? Is this typr now considered a pure bred? Tanks, Kim

Answer
www.akc.org you will find a list of all accepted registrable breeds of dogs.  It is not a registrable breed at this time and not considered a pure breed.  A Lhasa is a pure breed and a Shih Tzu is a pure breed, together they are a mix and that makes a "mutt" sorry to say.  I know that to others they are designer dogs and worth $2000.00 but in breeding terms and in show world, they are "mutt" and "mix breed".  As for companion dog both of the dogs make excellent companion dogs separately , I suppose that as a mix they should do well I would think you need to check health issues of both dogs because the mix will be prone to carrying the problems from both (eye disease, kidney disease, hip problems, etc), just make sure your dog is healthy first and if the dog is healthy and the breeder is giving you a guarantee of health, and the puppy is going to be neutered (you don't want him marking your home or running away the first time a nearby female is in heat, or getting testicular cancer), then if he has your heart, take him home and love him..good luck
