shih-tzu previous question

I don't want to give the puppy back, but I did purchase it as a Shih-tzu.  We were thinking about breeding, but I think that is now out of the question.  I want to know, is it normal for these dogs to have curly, coarse hair on the back? Is this one of their characteristics?

Hi:  Was the dog AKC papered?  What did you pay for her.  Also, yes, I know a few dogs with more of a curl to the coat... I can think of one boy right now that gets a curl when it is humid.  He is very fluffy and gets alot of curls all over his back.
