Question
I have a 3 year old toy poodle, very playful and full of life. Occasionally he appears to be having a seizer. His hind leg stiffen, he has cotton mouth, and eye aare glazed over. It usually last 30-40 seconds. I hold him, rub him and clam him and then he gets up and walks away like nothing has happened. I am not sure what this is or what to do. the vet doesn't have thoughts on this either, just watch over him. Any ideas?

Answer
Sorry I am not a vet and cant help much on this one.  I would however want to take him into a vet and have some blood work done to try and find the reason for the seizures.  That way you will have a good idea of how to treat it.  Seizures need to be treated not left untreated.  You vet might recomend something like phenobarbitol to help control the seizures and the frequency.  But as I said the cause needs to be identified if it can.  Sometimes seizures can be caused by other illnesses such as anemia.  If the symptoms are just treated and not the cause it will not help the dog and in the cause of anemia it could kill the dog if not identified.
