Toy poodle pups

Question
QUESTION: I have 2 poodle pups who are 2 weeks old.  Right now the largest (Brownie) is 7-8" and weighs about 2 lb 2 oz.  The other (Blanc) is 6-7" and weighs 1 lb 10 oz.  I'm concerned about their growth since they seem so large. Should I be concerned with their fast growth?

ANSWER: Hi Steven, Best wishes on the new pups!  Sounds like Brownie and Blanc may be mini poodles rather than " toy " poodles?????
Did you have the background of the stud dog?  Could he have some larger poodle blood line?

Here is the growth chart for toy, mini, and standard.

Avg Size of Toy Poodle: Height: <10 inches, Weight: 4-8 pounds
Avg Size of Miniature Poodle: Height: 10-15 inches, Weight: 12-18 pounds
Avg Size of Standard Poodle: Height: 15-21 inches, Weight: 45-65 pounds

This Breeder did a very good chart for Toy Poodles - GROWTH chart..

I hope this helps.  I am sure they will be wonderful what ever size they do become.

Let me know how they are in a few more weeks.  I would love to keep in touch with the poodle's growth .

Thanks

QUESTION: Thank you so much for the quick response.  I was expecting 2 or 3 days. lol
We own both the mom and dad.  Mom was about 7-8 lbs before getting pregnant and dad is around 6 lbs. We don't know the blood line for sure, but mom was about 2 lbs at 8 weeks and dad was a little smaller at 8 weeks.  Again, the blood lines are not known for sure so I suppose there may be some other breed involved.

Answer
Glad I could help.  Wonderful that you have both parents on site.  There may be some big poodles in the blood line.  Who knows?   I guess you will just wait and see.  It's better to be a little big than much too small.  The pup's health is the most important of all.
Good luck and keep me posted.  I would like to know how they turn out?
