cherry eye surgery

Question
I just got an estimate for the cherry eye surgery. It's from $1084.33 to $1355.00! I feel like I'm getting bamboozled because everywhere I've been reading testimonials online where people are doing the surgery for anywhere from $150 bucks to $500 bucks. Is my estimate too high? this surgery is the relocation of the eyegland to the correct place and a suture to keep it in the place, than the doc pull a little more skin and sutures a couple more times to keep in place better

here's the list in the estimate:

day hospitalization $57.50
preanesthes/induction $67.45
gen. anes. 1st 1/2 hour $168.55
gen. anes. add. 15 min. (x2) $150.65
anes. monitoring Lv2 $66.55
Fluid set up anesthesia $78.65
evert/gland replacement $335.30
PCV/TP/AZO/BLOOD GLUCOS $55.25
other professional services $100.00
biohazard waste mgmt. $4.00

subtotal $1084.33

any opinions?

Answer
This is one of the biggest rip offs I've ever heard of. My vet charges $80 to repair a cherry eye. All he says he's going to do is tuck it in and suture the skin so it can't pop out again. Chances are it won't hold and you'll end up doing again, or at the very least, the other eye will pop as well.

My vet snips these off under mild sedation, not general anesthesia. You need to find another vet. This is outrageous.
