Question
How long can a English bulldog have a cold?
My 12 week old puppy has a cold for about two weeks, we took him to the vet but the medicine that he gave us has not work is it normal for him to have a cold for that long?

Answer
When a puppy has a cold, the course of medication usually lasts 10 days to 2 weeks at least. Bulldogs are especially prone to upper respiratory infections and these can drag on forever if the right antibiotic isn't found. Generally Clavamox is the first choice and if that doesn't produce any results, Baytril is the "big gun" in these cases.

You really need to keep at this or it will develop into pneumonia and you'll be very hard pressed to get him over it. When you find something the works, keep him on it for a full 2 weeks and then watch him carefully.  At the first sign of a recurance, get him back onto medication right away.
