English Bulldog has heavy breathing

Question
I fed my bulldog some soft dog food. He has eaten this before so i thought there wouldnt be a problem.  After about an hour, he started vomiting and had a loud breathing pattern. I wasnt sure if it was the food or, if because he was outside, because of misquitoes. This has happened before but last time it was because of a long walk.

Answer
Your Bulldog has elongated soft pallet issues which need to be corrected for the dog will eventually die because of it. You should raise his dishes off the floor about 6" and not feed soft food until you can get this taken care of.  Definitely do not force exercise.

I can't stress enough how important it is to keep this dog cool and out of hot weather and humidity. If he gets in distress and you hear that raspy breathing, have a squeezy lemom from the grocery store on hand. Lift his lip and give him a squirt toward the back of his mouth. He'll hate it but it will cause him to salivate and help move whatever is obstructing his airway, usually just a big glob of goo.

Good luck with him.  Off to the vet asap ok?
