Question
Hello, our Female English Bulldog is close to 19 weeks today. She is scheduled for her spay surgery on December 28th. Is our timing okay? Are we too late or too soon? I am really nervous about her going under. Is there anything I can do or any types of testing prior to her surgery to lessen the risk of complications during the surgery? I know Bulldogs have problems breathing when there not in surgery, let alone when they are! Thanks

Answer
Your timing is excellent.  There's really no need for worry as long as you have a vet who has experience not only putting Bulldogs to sleep but waking them up successfully. Any type of anesthesia is always a risk but the younger the better for spaying.
