Question
QUESTION: I have a 3 year old English Bulldog that we got approximately 4 months ago.  We have tried sweet potato and lamb dog food and now he is eating raw turkey only...He was being treated with Ketoconazole, Prednisone, and Atopica when we got him.  He didn't seem to improve so we removed him from those medications.  He seemed to be improving for awhile but now he is back to itching until he bleeds.  He itches on his back legs, elbows, ears, and chest.  He also does a butt spin to scratch back there (get him groomed and anal glands expressed every 3 weeks).  Any suggestions?

ANSWER: Amy - I would love to help you and your English bullie kid.....
Wow, first, I see that we need to do more with his feeding ....I have some ideas to add to his Raw turkey.
NEXT, Don't get him groomed every 3 weeks....No - this is the worst thing for this boy.
I can help with the itching, bleeding and general MESS.

Why are the anal glads getting done every 3 weeks?  It is because he has No fiber in his diet???
Also, what treats do you feed this boy?

Get back to me so I can help you two...

QUESTION: Here is a picture of the itchy mess I have been referring to.

ANSWER: ___________ follow up from post ____________

Poor kid - Also, in addition to the NuVET , Metamucil Cookies and SoJo feeding :  Let's add some TEA tree oil shampoo/ HOT spot tea tree shampoo ( from the NuVET Folks)
I believe it is 10.00 ( ask the NuVET folks to add this to your order of the NuVET Wafers)
I BET in 3-4 weeks you will see changes in your baby's skin.

As far as the shampoo - use only 1 x per week for 4 weeks and then every 10 - 12 days ...
Tea tree is healing and soothing.
Too much washing can dry the skin and make it worse...
NO more groomer every 3 weeks / I guarantee that was making things worse...
YOUR groomer was sure making a bunch of money from you.  She/he knows that your dog's anal glads and skin were not to be manipulated this much..... ( most groomers would not was a dog every 3 weeks with such a skin problem)

I hope you don't think I am being harsh????  I just can't believe the anal glands and skin were getting all that Attention!  just too much..

Hope to work with you two!
