Bulldog congestion

Question
I have purchased an english bulldog in the beginning of December. I had taken her to the vet because she had a runny nose and coughing.  She was put on antibiotics and cough suppressant.  She had gotten better after about 2 weeks until the medication stopped.  Took her back, the vet took xrays and found fluid in her lungs she was again put back on antibiotics and she starting doing better, but after about 2 weeks, the congestion is coming back again.  I don't know what to do.

Answer
This is a very difficult situation. Bulldogs can't cough up the gunk in their lungs due to their elongated soft pallets. This is a bad time of the year to try to get rid of an upper respiratory infection as well.

Just keep her on high potency antibiotics, Baytril works well, and as soon as she can maintain her health, get her pallet resectioned. This won't eliminate the problem completely, but it would definitely help.

Once a Bulldog has chronic upper respiratory problems or pneumonia, it's almost impossible to get rid of.
