Buggers in her left eye

Question
HI MARJORIE,

I've adopted my friend's bulldog.  She was given to me because unfortunately he couldn't give her the time or space she needed. He fed her colored food. I've noticed her left eye kept accumulating white buggers. I cleaned them off with a wet soft cloth. After a week, her eye looks clean now and clear.  I'm just curious to know why she got them in the first place. Could it be the food she was given?  I started her with medium dog puppy food from Eukanuba mixing it with the old food and she likes it. I figured maybe her body was in need of some serious nourishment. Should I just leave it at that, or still take her to the vet to find out what is really going on with her? Was she just dehydrated?
After doing some reading, I've learned that bulldogs snore (which is so cute)she snores in her sleep, but,is it normal for them to snore even when they're being caressed?

Answer
It sounds like the dog just needs care. White boogers are nothing serious. If they were green or yellow, the dog might have an infection and need antibiotics, but I think she will be fine. Get rid of the old food and stick with Euk, it's great.

The "snoring" you're hearing when she's awake is caused by her soft pallet. It's almost like a purring sound, very common in Bulldogs.
