Limping

Question
Buster, our hyperactive, 17-month old English bulldog, came up with a limp two days ago.  It's his left front leg, I believe.  I think he may have strained it during doggy day care, where we took him four days ago.  Not sure though.  And, it doesn't seem to be getting any better.  I've checked his left front leg, paw, pad, etc. I've made an appointment with the vet today, hoping he can tell me what's going on.  I didn't want to wait until next Tuesday (after the holiday) to get this looked at.
I'm afraid he may have broken a bone or sprained something.  How common is this for such a young dog, and what would you recommend, other than trying to keep him calm?  Doing that won't be easy, of course, but I'm assuming that if it hurts him (hard to tell with bulldogs, I've heard), he'll not be too feisty.
BTW, he really liked the doggy day care on Monday, which you had said would be a good idea to take him to.  Hope this injury doesn't mean he can't attend that anymore.
Thanks.

Answer
This may just be an injury from playing hard. It's probably nothing serious. Crate rest would help but if it was me, I'd just let him manage it on his own. Bulldogs can tolerate a lot of pain and if he's in pain, good, maybe he'll slow down, maybe not.  It's probably a shoulder strain.

Don't give up on daycare unless you have to. It's great for him.
