Question
I have a 3 yr old english bulldog that is very active.  He was recently diagnosed with having a dislocation in his rear right knee.  The vet had us cut him back to 1 cup twice a day of science diet sensitive stomach food to get his weight down a little (he weighed 54.8 lbs. at this appt), and he is taking dasuquin twice a day as well.  We rested him for two weeks like the vet said and have now cut his walks down to one loop a day, but we have not seen improvement with his limping and favoring of the right rear knee.  We are to the point where we can actually see the knee popping in and out of place.  Do we have an option other than surgery at this point?  Will he ever be able to be a normal, playful dog again?

Hi Tina - Well you can avoid surgery if your bullie has a level 1,2 or 3 luxating patella injury...
( levels 4 and up have no choice but surgery)
