english bulldog red spots, hair loss, scratching

Question
I have a 2 year old female named Bridget who has recently started scratching the sides of her neck. upon examination I noticed little red spots on the skin and even some scabby material.  She is losing a little hair and it looks kind of "Messy" in that area. She weighs 50 lbs. I feed her only homemade meals of cooked chicken, both steamed and raw veggies and flax meal or oil.  She also does the "Sit & spin". I also noticed "sores" on her little corkscrew tail, hair was missing & they look like they've been there a while. I thought I was keeping her clean and tidy.... I bathe her myself once a week using a medicated shampoo mixed with a little dr. bronners.  I know I should probably take her to the vet.... it is a bummer that money is holding me back. any advice or home remedies you can suggest would be much appreciated.

Answer
Hi Shannon:  Well, there are many home remidies you can try.  I feel that she needs to see the vet before you go the Natural route.
She may have mange and needs to have a skin scrape done.
You can ask the vet, before you make the appointment, if they can take monthly payments from you...???  Just explain you are very short of cash for __________ amount of days.  See if they will work with you.  ( many will if you just ask)

I know how you feel.... but, you may have to ask for help and get your dog seen.

If it is not mange, then there are many choices... Please call the vet tomorrow.

Let me know what happens.

Thanks for your question...
