new baby

Question
Well we picked up the new baby. He is 6 years old instead of 5. seems very laid back.  Our spoiled rotten baby can't decide if she likes him or not.  He drools ALOT and his breathing is LOUD. He had a good night, didn't whine when we put him to bed or anything.  The food he was on was Diamond.  The lady didn't bring any and of course the don.t sell it within 50 miles of me. So what could be comparable to Diamond for a senior dog?  He was totally unimpressed with Jazzy's Eukanuba. I had a trial size bag of Innova that a pet boutique gave me and he finally ate. He wants to mark everything but so far only outside.  He also tries to get frisky with our Jazz who has been spayed! Why does he do that? Thanks again for all your help!!                                            Terrie

Answer
Hi Terrie - Sounds wonderful -  Diamond is an ok food...Was involved with the Pet Food Recall and I don't recommend it.  If you do have a pet store around the Innova Senior is a great food for him.

He has loud breathing because of his soft palate and mouth /nasal anatomy.  Very common in this breed...Also, they tend to have allergies.

He is marking his new yard to establish his belonging.  As for the mounting behavior - this is to establish dominance over little Jazz.

Let me know if you can't find the food...OK

Also, please order some NuVET Plus for this boy... His breed is very prone to skin and coat problems...also, allergies!
Here is the ordering info:

NuVET Plus wafers -  Call Joan at 1-800-474-7044 EXT 265  Give her this Breeder's code 81098...They are the manufacturer and can't sell to the public without this code.  NuVET wafers are very good for his leg/joint health, too.
They will get this order out to you by Tuesday if you order tomorrow.
You may even get the order on Monday.
One per day at .55 cents per day..

Hope all goes well!
