Housebreaking/Sleeping

Question
Hello, I'm about to purchase a twelve week old female english bulldog from a private breeder. I take three evening grad classes a week (during which time my roommate will be home) and I only work two full days a week (during which time he will be at work). I am in the process of arranging for someone to come to the house mid-day on the days I am working to spend time with her and let her out, but I am wondering if I should request that they come twice on those days (late morning and late afternoon maybe). I would really like to get her into a routine in terms of going out to do her business, so do you think this would be a reasonable way to approach it? Also, my previous dogs (all golden retrievers) slept with me in my room. I've read the earlier questions/answers about what to do at night time, and I will certainly try to be strong about not letting her come into bed with me when she cries at first. However, once she is housebroken I would really love for her to sleep with me. When is a reasonable time for her to be brought into my bedroom to sleep? Thanks so much for your advice, I really appreciate it.

Answer
Put this puppy on your schedule and let her adjust. On the long days, if you can get someone to come in twice, it would be great. That's a long day for a puppy to be alone.

As far as sleeping in the bed goes, once you create the monster, you have to live with it. I would wait at least until she's house trained before you start this, if that's what you decide.

I have some great training info if you'd like to email me directly at omaibulldogs@yahoo.com, I'll be happy to send it along to you.
