Question
I feed my 4mo. old bulldog puppy natural choice for dogs per breeder. I give him 1 cup three times a day. He weighs 15 lbs.  Is he underweight? Should I give him puppy food instead or should I increase the amount of food?

Answer
Puppies need puppy food. Your puppy seems small for his age but it's difficult to determine without seeing a picture of him and knowing the size of the parents.

By 4 months of age, I "free feed" my puppies, meaning I leave food down for them all the time. Or, give them all they can eat 3 times a day and then work toward free feeding.  Not only does this develop good eating habits, it insures the dog gets what it neeeds. They may over eat initially, but will level off once they realize the food is always there.

If you change his food, choose a quality puppy food, at least 26% protein and 16% fat and change gradually.
Give 1/2 cup of the new food with the old for a day or two and then increase it over a week or so. I would stick with puppy food until the puppy is around 9 months old and then gradually change over to a quality adult food, not natural choice if you can manage it.

Good luck.
