Dry Nose

Question
I have a 4 year old Bulldog.  His nose, for the past two years has been dry, oozy, cracky and looked awful (which is truly cramping Rosco's style!)  I've taken him to two different vets and each downplay the situations and say that he's fine...it's just dry.  I've tried everything from Vit. E oil, water, ointments, lotions.  It doesn't seem to bother him although it looks like it would.

Answer
Welcome to the world of Bulldogs. I honestly can't give you an explanation as to why this happens, but it happens to all Bulldogs.

I think it has to be with the type of heat in your house, the amount of time a dog spends outside/inside and the diet, a combo of all these things.

Try some type of thick, topical application, like Bag Balm. He won't be able to lick it all off and it will soothe the cracks, which as you say, probably don't bother him at all.
You'll probably have to apply it every few days and continue for as long as you want him to be "presentable".

You might try a high fat food, like 18%, but if he's 4 yrs. old you will have to watch his weight, if it's not an issue already.
