Panting Bulldog

Question
I have a 9 year old English Bulldog. Aside from the allegeries she has, she is in great shape. Her dermatologist recommended that when her allergies act up, we should give her Tavist for a 14 day period. (she's allergic to Benedryl)

She is a few days into the 14 day treatment and she has begun to pant more than usual. While it's been very hot and humid outside, we have central air and it's nice and cool inside, where she spends most of her time. She is also panting heavily at night.

I wasn't sure if this could at all be related to the Tavist she is taking, as it just began last night. She is otherwise fine, eating & drink normally, urinating normally and playing more than ever.

Any input would be appreciated!

Answer
Tavist has the same side effects as Benadryl so I can't imagine why your dog would be panting.  I would mention this to your vet and see if he has any ideas why this is happening. If she's just panting, and doesn't seem to be in any distress, I don't think you have anything to be concerned about. She is 9 years old however.
