Potty Traning

Question
We have recently added Frankie a 12 week old male Bulldog to our family.  He has been wonderful, however there are a couple traits that I'd like to nip in the bud before he gets too old and stubborn.
The first is a potty training issue, Frankie is able to sleep through the night (11pm - 6am) with no accidents, however when left alone for just a few hours during the day, he will usually pee in the crate.  The crate is not too big, only fits him laying down.  Are we expecting too much from him at this age?  I don't want him to get used to sleeping in his pee, although he doesn't seem to mind.
The second question is how do we get Frankie used to walking on a leash?  I put the leash on him all the time around the house and when i take him outside to the bathroom.  I don't try to force him to move (which is practically impossible anyways).  My fiance says we should put the leash on him and try to give him treats to get him to follow us, is this recommended?  I guess a puppy class would probably address some of these concerns as well.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Answer
You definitely are expecting way too much from a 12 week old puppy. Email me directly at omaibulldogs@yahoo.com and I'll send you some training techniques which should help.

If you're using a collar, get a harness and take him for "a drag".  He'll get the idea. Make it a fun drag, outside, lots of praise and encouragement, where he will be naturally curious and eventually figure out that a leash means getting out of the house.

Puppy kindergarten is a great idea and so is obedience class at a later date.
