Question
My 9 month old EBD loves her cedar-filled beds, so I ordered her a new one as hers was pretty beat up. In the mean-time for 2 days my husband bought her a king size pillow and put it in the pouch of one of her old beds (this was Sunday). Last night (Monday) we came home to find she had pulled the pillow out of the pouch and completely destroyed it!! Luckily the new bed arrived yesterday. As soon as she saw the new bed she jumped on it and wouldn't come off, she even went to sleep a bit early on her new bed. However, this morning my husband found her starting to destroy the new bed, so he took it away for the day. He thinks we should let her sleep on the hard floor for a few days so she learns to appreciate her bed. Can you please advise. She is going through a split cycle (she had her first cycle last month) and I think she might be moody. Also, her split cycle should end on 4/7/07...how long should we wait to have her spayed?
Thanks.

Answer
She found out that tearing things up is fun! You may never be able to use a bed again. Take it away for at least a month and then give it another try.  The stress of being in heat might be a factor but I doubt it.

I would have her spayed about a month after the heat is over.
