Question
On 8/15/2006 you had a question on this subject. I have a 2 year old Bull Dog and I am trying to find out how well that bully recovered from this operation. I have just been told that my Corona needs this operation. She also ruptured hers from play and jumping off the bed ( which she is not allowed on):) They tell me if she does not have the operation that she will get arthritis and the leg will go lame.

Answer
Eventually your dog will get arthritis anyway regardless of whether or not she has an operation. If the patella isn't luxating(popping out) on a regular basis, I would put off the surgery if it was me.  Many, many times this situation can be managed with rest and limited play and exercise. I would give this a serious effort before electing for surgery.

There's always the second opinion option as well.
