Pit bull and Pug

Question
Hello.

I have a female pit bull that is 3 months old. About a week after I got her, I also purchased a male Chinese Pug puppy, that is just 5 days younger than her.

They have been together now for about a month, and they get along very well. They love to wrestle with each other, and she even lets him "win" sometimes.

My question is....When my female pit bull gets older, and much larger than the pug, do I need to be concerned that she may turn aggressive towards him, even though they have grown up together? Both dogs are shown alot of attention from our family, and it is our hope that they will be best of friends. What do you think? Any help or advice that you can provide will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Derrick,

Generally speaking, I would have to say that there should not be a problem between your pug and your pitty.  Pit bull terriers are actually a very loving, playful, and dedicated breed.

Now, there is always the chance that problems could develop, but any that do would most likely not be related to the breed or size of either dog.  For the most part, I have found that a male and a female actually make for a better combination than two males or two females.  Though I do recommend getting them spayed and neutered.

As long as you provide love, attention, and the proper stimulation, I would anticipate on you having a happily symbiotic relationship between the two dogs.

Thanks,
Stephen

By the way,  I have a three males and three females (one female being a pitbull), and have only had a problem between two males, not between different sexes.
