housebreaking engligh bulldog puppy

QUESTION: I have a male bulldog who is 5 1/2 old & we are having a very hard time housebreaking him.  He still has accidents in the house & will have a bowl movement & urinate in his crate almost everynight.  We feed him Iams @ 8am & again @ 5pm.  He has about 4-5 bowel movements a day is that normal?  Any advise you can give me on housebreaking would be helpful. I let him out after he eats, when he wakes up from a nap, if i run out i let him out as soon as i come home. This is our 1st bulldog so I'm not sure if it's the breed that's hard to train or if we have to do something different.  Any help would be appreciated.

ANSWER: Hi Jill - I see one big problem, your boy's food.  The Iams brand is loaded with junk fillers that will make him poop a bunch.  He poops so much because all of the corn, wheat and rice in Iams.
So, if we get him on a better and condensed food it will help 100%....
I can suggest a new food and a vitamin...Are you in the USA or other?

Keep me posted - The new food will make in big difference in the poops.
For the first week please add some PURE canned Pumpkin ( no sugar added) ....place a tablespoon on top of one meal each day:  This will add some fiber to his poops.  Sometimes the poop can get a little soft with a food change.  This will keep the poops firm.
