Question
Hi,  We have a 7.5 month old neutered male English Bulldog and 3 days ago we brought home an 8 week old female English Bulldog.  At first we introduced them with our male on a leash - because he weighs 47 lbs and she only weighs 10.  Last night we sat in the livingroom and let them loose.  The little female bites him in the face and legs and she really barks and growls a lot at him.  He 'mouths' her back and barks/growls just a bit.  But they did this for 2 hours last night; until we were tired of it and split them up for the night.  My question is: Are they both trying to be the 'boss' or the dominant?  Is there another method of going about this whole thing?  Will they ever be friends?   Your advice would be so greatly appreciated.  Thanks very much.  Gail & Gary

Answer
Gail - Oh, I can picture them now!  I had a laugh... Sounds like they will be fine!  He will teach her the ropes.  She needs to learn how to play. Right now her play is through her mouth.  Here whole life right now is the mouth and food.  The mouth is her pleasure and personality.  He will teach her Bite Inhibition - the proper manners of biting and play.

Give them plenty of time with supervised play and also time out...
Again, this is learned and she is not trying to be the boss.  She just needs to learn puppy manners and how to play.

Do a search on Bite inhibition - that will explain what I am getting at.!!!

Make sure you start your new gal on some NuVET wafers / The BEST bullie Vitamin in the USA.  See the bullie here:
