potty training our English bulldog puppy

Question
My roommate and I got a ridiculously cute English Bulldog puppy named Capone about two weeks ago.  We really love him, but we are having a very hard time potty training him.  We both work a lot and don't have a lot of time to spend on training him, so all we can do is let him out as much as we can while we're home, but when we're gone we pen him up and always come home to a mess; not only on the floor, but him as well.  A lot of times we will let him out and he will go to the bathroom, then come inside and goes on the kitchen floor immediately after we let him out. We wish we had more time to spend on the process of potty training him, but the fact of the matter is we just don't.  Is there anything we can do to a)get him to only go outside and b)speed up the process.  We are at our wits end and very frustrated, but we love him to death and want to get him trained so my roommate and I, as well as Capone, can all be happy with the situation.

Answer
First of all, you probably should have considered the little time you have before you got a puppy. Puppies require time, patience and training. Two weeks is totally unrealistic with respect to potty training. It's going to be more like 3 or 4 months considering that no one is around to do the job very often.

In an effort to make the most of a bad situation, I suggest you confine him to an area in your home where he can have an area with papers on the floor when you're not around. There really is no easy way to train a puppy if you don't have time to put into it.

Bulldog puppies aren't the easiest dogs to house train in the first place. The fact is, it will be months before he's realiable in the house, even if you were home with him every day.
