Health / Eukanuba review from Pet Nurse Marie

QUESTION: I have about a 4 month old english bulldog. Right now I am feeding him 4 cups a day of Eukanuba puppy food. I was just wondering if I should be giving him any type of vitamin supplements or some fish oil or something like that? One more thing. I also have a son that is 11 months and right now they get along great. In the future I would like to try and breed my bulldog but with having a little son do you think I should just get him neutered?

ANSWER: Hi Chris:  I would love to see your bulldog boy on a better food than the Eukanuba puppy food.  The Eukanuba is just an average food that may make your bullie FAT...Too many junk fillers are in the Eukanuba..
Let me know if you are willing to change brands?  I can give you some recommendations to other foods...Let me know if you are in the USA or other?  I can suggest some other foods for your new bullie.

As for oils and Vitamins : YES...
I will suggest some for you:  Just give me your General location.

QUESTION: I will definitely change foods because I obviously want him on the best food. I had him on Nutro puppy then did some research and aked a couple people and they told me about Eukanuba. So what do you recommend? And is it alright changing his food for the third time? We live in the USA down in St. Augustine, Florida. One last thing his eyes seem a little bloodshot at times. Nothing really bad or anything but is this normal? Thanks

Hi Chris, don't worry about the food change!  Ok, let's get this kid on a good feeding program.
I will give you two choices that you can find at the local pet store:
The First is Wellness Puppy Food - the other is Innova PUPPY food..

I would like you to MIX the OLD food and the new foods x 3 weeks..
AS to not give your boy any LOOSE stools...
Do a 50/50 mix for 3 or even 4 weeks.  AFTER that time frame, you can go 100% to the New puppy food.

Around 9 months old, I want you to start mixing the Adult Wellness Core or the Adult Innova EVO with your puppy food - do this for 1 month and then, go to 100% Adult food at 10 to 11 months old.
This keeps your boy from getting too FAT on the puppy food.

Also, we may need to add some oils to his food .... I don't want to do too much at one time: Let's first get the new food and the NuVET vitamin started.... We can take on an oil, down the road....IF needed.
