Changing to adult food

Question
My vet recommended that I switch my english bulldog to adult food since she's almost 11 months old and at her ideal weight. I had been feeding her Royal Canin medium breed puppy food, so I gradually switched her over to the Royal Canin adult bulldog formula. For the first few days her stools were pretty loose, which the vet warned might happen, but this has continued for a couple of weeks and she's basically having diarrhea now. I brought her back to the vet and he said otherwise she's perfectly healthy (no worms, good bloodwork/vitals, etc.) so she must be having a negative reaction to the food. Which adult food should I change to? She normally doesn't have a very sensitive stomach, and she hasn't yet exhibited any allergies. A lot of other bulldog owners I know have their dogs on raw diets, but this is mostly because they have allergy/weight problems. Is there a specific brand you could recommend? Thanks so much!

Answer
I would recommend putting her back on the puppy food until she gets back to normal. Then try a different food. If it happens again, go back to what you know works. It may take time to find an adult food that she can tolerate.  Bulldogs have weird digestive systems sometimes. If her stools return to normal within a couple of weeks of going back to the puppy food, you know it's the food. If the diarrhea continues, something else is going on and you need to do more testing.

I would try Innova or Wellness and see if either work for you. Good luck.
