Question
I have an american bulldog who is about 7 months old. He has an egg size lump that appeared above his left eye a few days ago out of nowhere. He wasn't hit and didn't run into anything, I noticed it when I woke up, but it wasn't there when I went to bed. It is not getting any smaller and it is very hard and does not seem to bother him. Do these dogs have any inclination of bone disorders or any types of disorders like this? I know they have hip problems, which he has already, but he was pretty rough when we got him from previous owner.

Answer
Hi Sandra,  I hope you are dealing with some trauma that caused this area to slightly swell.  Most Vets would allow you to give Benadryl 1-2 mg per pound every 12 hrs for a few days.  If it is just basic swelling, the Benadryl will reduce the lump within one or two dosages.  Please give your Vet a call and ask if you can give some Benadryl.  Please remember that I am not a Vet.
If you see any swelling around the eye or neck please get him to the VET office ASAP.

Please let me know what happens.  I hope it is just a minor bruised area***
