Demodex in my English Bulldog

Question
Hi. I have a 6 month old english bulldog pup who has just been diagnosed with Demodex. He had 1 small spot when I took him to the vet 4 days ago and the vet said to wait and see if he could fight it off on his own. Since then he has developed 7 more spots in various places. My question is how long do I wait to see if he gets any better before treating him? It is breaking my heart to see him losing his hair and irritated. I would hate to wait too long....Any suggestion?
Thanks

Answer
Go back and tell your vet you want to put the dog on Ivomec right away. Don't do the dips. They are too toxic and serve no real purpose. Ivomec will do the same job with less stress on the dog.

The dosage of Ivomec that my vet recommends is 1/10th cc per 10 lbs. of body weight(a little over isn't fatal) every other day for 3 weeks.  Then once a week until new spots stop appearing and hair starts to grow in the older spots. Then once a month until you can't see any signs of it at all.

You can give Ivomec orally, but it tastes terrible, or by injection under the skin, not in the muscle.
