Question
I have an English bulldog who is almost 7 months old.  He is about 45 lbs.  He is 16 1/2 inches tall from his feet to his rear.  I have heard that bulldogs tend to be a little shorter.  His father was a rather large bulldog (probably close to the same height), but much beefer the way I have always pictured bulldogs to be.  I know he still has growing to do, but he seems to be kind of on the skinny side.  He shows some bulkiness, but nothing like his dad.  Do you think he will become more beefy as he gets older?

Answer
First of all, you measure a dog's height from the highest point of his shoulders to the ground. Secondarily, 7 to 9 months is a very gawky age for puppies. I call it 'the uglies'.

I suggest you have a fecal exam done just to rule out any parasites and then just feed him well and wait for him to fill out. If he comes from beefy dogs, chances are he will be too, but there are never any guarantees.
