Bulldog ears

Question
My bulldog is 4 months old and has a funky thing goin on with his ears which is probably just a puppy thing. One ear is a perfect rose ear and the other has the fold like a rose ear but still wants to hang down like a button ear. about 3/4 of the time it hangs down like a button ear and only sometimes it pops back in place. See im only concerned about it because it seems to hold moisture when it is down like that and he likes to scatch that one more than the other (and it looks goofy.) Is this something I should worry about, should i try to train it to stay back like a rose ear. Is this common? Oh and it does not seem to bother him, I don't see that he is in pain and the ear does not appear swollen or red. Thank you - Jeff (pictures onhand if needed)

Answer
This is a common thing.  He's at the age where he's teething so ears tend to do all sorts of weird things until the permanent teeth come in.

However, you can glue the goofy ear back which will help and ultimately solve the problem.

Look at the good ear and notice where the lower flap of the ear lies against the base of the ear in the back. Fold back the bad ear and put some crazy glue between the lower flap and the base of the ear and squeeze until it holds. This won't hurt the puppy at all.  It may take the hair off but he'll live.  Generally you only have to do this a couple of times for it to be effective. If he leaves it alone, it may stayed glued for weeks, and that's ok. If you can keep it glued in place for a month, your problems are over.

Before you do anything, make sure that ear is clean and there isn't any infection brewing.
