Question

Rocco
Hello, I am a owner of a English Bulldog for a little over a year now. Rocco is a year and four months old. I am currently feeding him "Beneful" once taking him off "Puppy Max" at a year old and he is not on any medications.

The problem that I am having with him is that he is showing aggressive behavior now for atleast four months. He has really bonded with me and I would consider him my dog. He follows me everywhere I go and he tends to pick up on any of my moods. He gets along good with my two children and my husband, he has just lately started getting aggressive toward children who come around by snapping, lunging and some growling too! He snapped and lunged at my husband one time when he tried to get Rocco out of our bedroom where Rocco was lying next to the bed where I was at which scared me to death. It just seems like it is getting worst now and really I don't know what to do. We have put him out of the house after getting on to him and we have put him in his "den" when these occurances has happened. I know this cannot be normal with this kind of breed. We treat Rocco with a lot of respect and love everyday and he also grew up around little kids since he was 5 months old. What can be done and could something be wrong with my dog?

Answer
Hi Rebecca - I understand what is going on with Rocco - Territorial Aggression:
YOU are his territory or his possession:
see here:

You can get a behavior trainer to come to your home - Work with Rocco on his turf.  After just 2-3 sessions, your problems should be solved.  You can't go to someone - they MUST come to you...

Also, after this has been taken care of ....Please talk with me about his food:  Beneful is not good and will make him put on too much weight.  HE is beautiful and thanks for the photo...

Good luck
