Question
we have just discovered that our 5month old bulldog is deaf. Is this normal? she is all white.I've heard that all white bulldogs tend to be deaf...is this true? I do not know what color the parents are but she is completely white. is this a genetic problem and how do I train her??

Answer
Hollie, Don't worry - I have cared for a number of deaf dogs ( a few bulldogs, too) and they do learn fairly well.  You will be amazed at how normal your dog will seem.  They compensate with vibration and movements of the house or  household.  They also compensate with the sense of smell.
Yes, it is genetic and common in white dogs.

Here is a book you can get - I have read this and it was a great little book.  Please read some good books and learn.
