What questions do I ask the vet before my dog has a C Section? I am very worried about the gas? Should I have a B.U.M test or a Creatinine test done before C Section? Should my dog be tested for the Herpes, during her first heat. Is there any thing that can help puppies after of in side Mom to stop Herpes or save puppies from getting Herpes? thank you for your knowlegde and time. lily

The anesthesia of choice these days is propofol(sp). Only a small percentage is metabolized through the liver and therefore, they wake up quickly with little side effects. The puppies wake up faster as well. I'm not sure why you are so concerned about herpes. Your dog will be bred using artificial insemination and puppies delivered via c-section. There's no possibility of her contracting the virus. I suppose you could have her tested beforehand if you're paranoid about it.
