Feeding our English Bulldog Puppy

Question
Hi Marjorie,

My husband and I just purchased an 11 week old male English Bulldog from a breeder recommended by a friend.  The breeder told us to feed him Diamond puppy food because that is what he is used.  We got him on Saturday and he did not eat at all.  Sunday morning he ate precious little and has not eaten since.  I have been leaving the food out for him to go to because I am worried about him not eating.  I read he should be eating 3 times a day.  Should we be worried?  He does not cry or act hungry and when I show him the foods he smells it and ignores it.  Any help would be great.

Thank you,
Cathy

Answer
This is just because of his new surroundings. However, Diamond is really poor quality food. I suggest that once he's settled in you try to switch him over to a better diet. Do it gradually over about a week. Eukanuba, Innova, Wellness, Nutri Source, or something in this range would be good. Don't feed large breed puppy food either.
