Question
My wife and I have a 3 year old we bought from a person who couldn't keep Lucy because they were moving into a house where pets weren't allowed. As far as we can tell she has never been abused. The problem we have observed is that when Lucy is left to her own for a few minutes she will begin to bob her head in an up, down and slightly back and forth motion from the floor to the top of her reach. At first we thought that she had some mental problem. But we have noticed that while she is doing this, if we try to get her attention she never fails to respond to us. She will at least will look at us and if we snap our fingers she will always stop this habit and come to us. We love this dog with our hearts and can't seem to find an answer anywhere.

Answer
Scott and Charmin,

Maybe she has just picked up this habit for some reason, but it sounds like more of a physical reason.

She may have a problems with her ears.  You may want to have your vet take a look at her.

Hope that helps,
