My bulldog has got a pinky!

Question
Hi,  my 18week old Bulldog bitch has got a pink nose.  It's not all pink - just around the middle bit.

It's been like this since she was 6 or 7 weeks old and is showing no signs of going black.

I own her Mum and she has great pigment so does the Dad and so do all the other puppies.

I would like to show Blossom as she is a fit and healthy bulldog and she looks stunning.  She's placid and friendly and has a great temperament.

It is possible in time that her nose may go black but I've recently seen an adult bulldog with a pink nose so naturally I'm concerned that Blossom is going to have a pink nose too which will mean the end of her show career.

Another dog owner has suggested that I put kelp/seaweed in her food as this will increase the pigment.  Is this an old wives' tale?

Have you seen other bulldogs with pink noses?

If she is going to have a pink nose then so be it.  She's a wonderful addition to the family.  She is a great ambassador for the breed as she will stand and let anyone fuss her and has also got fans who are either scared of dogs or don't normally like dogs.

Thanks for your help.

Answer
Personally, I've not had a Bulldog without full pigment ever. Some take longer than others to fill in. If both the puppy's parents are good, then there's no reason to think her nose won't fill in eventually. I had a female who had a small pink spot about the size of the eraser on a pencil until she was almost a year old and then it was gone.
