Question
Hi, we got our EBD puppy last week at 9 weeks.  We live in the city, in an apartment building.  For the first 5 days we were picking him up and carrying him to his spot in front of the building.  I know this is a bad habit, and want to teach him to walk on the lead.  We had had 3-4 accidents (#1 only)in the house.  We praise, praise praise when he goes outside.  We have been trying tho not to pick him up.  We have to DRAG him outside now.  And, he has had a few accidents in the lobby now, not making it to his spot.  The secondary issue is the walking.  He REFUSES to walk on the leash away from the building, even to the corner.  If we pick him up and carry him a 2 blocks away, he will run or walk the whole way home on his lead, and do a great job.  So, i'm not sure if this is a housetraining issue, walking issue or both.  He is now on a soft lead and we have tried a harness-- no difference...  He just wants to be home.  He is a very very relaxed and chill puppy in general, maybe he just doesn't have an interest in being out of the house?  We so want him to be able to at least make it around the block...

Answer
Hi - I would love a follow-up on the English bulldog pup _________  Let me know if you try the harness again?

Hi Liz - This english bullie is so very young - you Can pick him up and bring him outside.  Place him down at his SPOT...
He is very young and I would practice leash walking in the apartment and hallway of the building.  He may be very nervous about all the noises outside.
Work on the leash, inside for 2 weeks and then start outside but take him to a "quiet" PARK???  ( not a doggie park)

Also, please get him onto the NuVET wafer vitamins to protect him from bacteria and other parasites.... NuVET will strengthen the immune system and keeps pups and adult dogs healthy.
Call 1-800-474-7044 and ask them for the Wafers or Powder.
Tell them Pet Nurse Marie referred you - you need a referral from a Vet or Pet Pro and order code 81098

Also, you may want to go over to Amazon.com - do a search on Bulldogs and training - they have some Wonderful LOW cost books at Amazon.com - and FAST shipping.

In the future, you may want to go back to a harness.
