Bullie attacking chain link fence

We have a 7 plus year old English Bulldog who has begun attacking our chain link fence for no apparent reason.  He will be good for weeks at a time but every now and again, he comes out of the house and lays into it.  Any suggestions??

Well now, this sounds like some type of senility setting in. Perhaps he's having flash backs of a bad experience, fence fighting with another dog, a child teasing him through the fence perhaps?  I doubt there's any way you can stop this short of taking down the fence.
