Question
We are watching our friends bulldog and it gurgles constantly.  It sounds like it is full of mucus.  Is this normal?  Should we call a vet?

Answer
If you are in warm weather, this is pretty normal. Get one of those plastic lemons at the grocery store and when you hear the gurgles, give the dog a squirt and it will clear the mucus. Pull up one side of the dogs chops and squirt it toward the throat.  That should do it.  If you think the dog might have an upper respiratory problem, you should take it to the vet immediately.
