Crazy Period in Evening

Question
My female 4-month old EB has a crazy period each night around 7:00 p.m.  She will race around the room, run into things, throw toys, and then it escalates to lunging at me or my son on the couch, appearing to try to bite.  This is the only time during the day that she barks.  I usually put her in time out (if I can catch her) for five minutes.  When she's let out, she's totally calm and falls asleep on the floor.  It's quite unnerving.  She's in puppy kindergarten class and doing well.  She's housebroken (except during the day), rings the bell on the door to go out.  Other than the 20 minutes in the evening, she's a great little girl.  Is this normal behavior?  She's cordoned off in a hallway during the day 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. but with us all evening until 10:00 p.m.  Thanks.

Answer
This is pretty normal. I call this behavior "frenetic burst of energy".  You might try giving her time outside to blast around earlier in the evening. If she's confined most of the day, she needs to blow off steam. If she's pooped, chances are this behavior will at least calm down.

It sounds like she's a really good puppy and this is just pent up energy that apparently she let's go off when there is the biggest audience. It's not a bad thing.
