Breeding our dogs

Question
We have two English Bulldogs that we are interested in breeding to each other.  Is there a site that kind of helps with learning the process?  I know that they can't breed naturally, so what do we do to get the transfer made and how much detail is there on a site?  We are getting ready for our female to hit her 2nd cycle and thought that we needed to do some research before that came around.  I know that Vets will help, but I didn't know if that is worth the money or not.  I know that the delivery with give them plenty of money when it's time to deliver.  If they deliver, do vets usually charge to help get them pregnant or is that typically included in the deliver fee?  When we spoke with them about delivery, it's typically around $900.  Thanks!

Answer
I don't believe there are any web sites that explain artificial insemination in a manner that you might understand considering you're very unexperienced from what your message tells me.

The males would have to be "collected", generally by a vet if you don't know the process, and the female would be inseminated at that same time. This is usually done at least twice, on separate visits 2 days apart, to insure your chances of a pregnancy and is not included in the delivery at all. This could run as much as $150-200 a visit. If you're finding c-sections for $900, you're very lucky. This is about 1/2 the price generally quoted..

Raising Bulldogs isn't something you do flying by the seat of your pants. The first 2 weeks are critical. Someone needs to be available 24/7. What if your female rejects the puppies and you have to bottle feed around the clock every 2 hours? Worse, what if she dies? What if all your puppies die and you're out thousands of dollars? What if you only have one puppy? All of this are valid, realistic possibilities.

My best suggestion is to find a breeder, perhaps the one where you got your dogs, and as for guidance. There's nothing better than experience and if someone is willing to mentor you, that's your best option.
