Question
HI Nelson had his operation to remove his retained testicle and was castrated. The Vet x rayed him as his back legs have been giving way on occasions. The Vet said Nelson is a Surgeons delight!!!! He has problems with his HIPS, his knees are popping out and his front legs have bone growth differentials too!!! He has also reported that he needs a operation on his airway & nostrils and would like to re- x ray in a month to see any changes whilst under going the operation.  I am concerned that this is too soon as Nelson is still developing, Should a get a second opinion

Answer
You need to run away from this vet as fast as you can. It's ridiculous to suggest this much surgery on a puppy.

Just let your puppy grow up. Every Bulldog on the planet could use hip replacement surgery but it doesn't mean that they all need it. Most can have a long, healthy life without surgery, as with all the other abnormalities this vet mentioned. These are Bulldog issues and there are some vets who line their pockets trying to scare people into having all these things "fixed" when in many, many cases it is totally unnecessary.

Yes, find yourself another vet and don't do anything until this puppy matures unless it is absolutely necessary. If he's not in pain, he's fine.
