Bulldog with one blue eye

Question
Hi Marjorie, our 11 week old bulldog has one blue eye - its hard to see, but it comes out in pictures. Our breeder said this is nothing to worry about, but that they wont be duplicating that breed again. What does that mean for us? Could our puppy have any underlying issues? Is the breeder not telling us something?
Thanks!
Julie

Answer
this is a recessive gene that doesn't show up very often. It has to be double recessive in order to make blue eyes.  That means that both parents have to carry the gene. That's why the breeder won't repeat the breeding because both dogs carry it. The chances of that happening are a bizillion to one.  The puppy shouldn't have any health issues related to this at all.
