house breaking

We have been given a 3 year old English Bulldog that is not housebroken. Can he be house broken, or is he too old to be trained

Answer
This depends on several things. How committed are you to house training him? This isn't impossible but it's a lot of work based on consistency and patience. Has he lived as a kennel dog his entire life or did he have any house time along the way? If he had a shred of house time, there's a chance it will come back to him. Is the dog neutered? If not, now's the time.  Does he mark territory even if he is neutered? This isn't a good sign.

Get a crate and use it to train the dog. No time in the house outside the crate unless someone is there every minute to supervise. Crate, outside, house time, crate, outside, house time. He may "get it" and he may not, but it's worth a try.
