Question
We have 2 Olde English Bullies.  Tink we've had since 4 months old and she is now just over 2 and Cookie we've had since age 2 so for 6 months.  They got a long great for the first 4.5 months.  Then Tinkerbell started attacking Cookie every chance she got.  We've put about $1000.00 into stitches into Cookie, from Tinkerbell.  They are both loving dogs, but we are afraid to let them near each other for fear of this happening again.  Is there anything we can do?  We are currently keeping them in different rooms and only letting one out at a time.  We have tried to rehome one, but people tend not to want a dog with aggressive tenacies, and it breaks our hearts to do so.  Both are females.  Tink was spayed at 1 year and Cookie, the day after all of this started, in January.

Answer
It is never a good idea to bring in an adult female where there is already a female in residence especially since Tink has grown up in your home.  This is strictly a territorial behavior and if it was happening with puppies, you would let them "duke it out" until one submits to being low dog on the totum pole. You can't do that with adults. If Cookie had been spayed coming in or immediately after you got her, BEFORE, the fighting started, you may have had a chance.

It is in everyone's best interest, dogs included, if you find Cookie a new home without any other dogs. This is very common behavior with females and it never works out.
