Question
My husband and I recently took in a female American bulldog who is 8 months old.  We have a male German shepard and two sons (7 and 5).  She recently started showing aggression to other female dogs in our attempts to socialize her. She has been very good with our male dog and our children.  Is this normal behavior and is this behavior a sign that she may become aggressive towards our children?

Answer
This is normal behavior for many breeds including American Bulldogs. If this female isn't spayed already, get it done "yesterday".  Also, I HIGHLY recommend taking her to obedience classes as soon as possible in an attempt to squash this behavior around other female dogs.

You are going to have to get on top of this right away. I doubt that she would ever be a threat to your children. However, this is not the type of behavior you want them to be in the middle of either.
